Welcome to the Occupational Therapy home safety webpage. As parents/carers we must all take our child’s safety seriously whether we are in the home, school or in the community.
Our service has put together some guidance and resources to support you to increase your child’s independence whilst ensuring their safety in the home.
This webpage is designed to help children, young people and their families to consider all options available to ensure that their home environment can meet the child’s needs.
In some circumstances a referral to occupational therapy may be required to assess your child’s home if there are specific functional difficulties relating to access, mobility or self-care.
Our service does not provide assessment/equipment for safety issues or needs related to behavioural difficulties, for example window locks or stair gates or needs related to housing overcrowding issues.
