Moving Home
In some cases, moving to another property which can provide more suitable accommodation is more appropriate for a person’s longer-term housing and well-being.
Home Owner – As a home owner you may wish to consider buying a more suitable property choosing a house based on the recommendations by the OT. Alternatively, if your house cannot be adapted you can apply to be on the housing register but this is subject to certain criteria.
Private Rental – You may wish to consider finding an alternative private rental which best meets your family’s needs. You could also apply to be on the housing register but this is subject to certain criteria.
Social Housing – Under certain circumstances, the District council can provide a relocation grant up to £5000 to help with the costs of moving as an alternative to adapting a property. For those who live in social housing there may be options to swap to a different property. A letter from an Occupational Therapist known as a ‘Housing Needs’ report will specify what the minimum requirements are for a suitable property.
We do not accept referrals where overcrowding is the only issue.
