Your voice in action
Your voice in action: Listening to you, improving together
Welcome to our ‘Your voice in action’ page. This space has been created to share the work CFHD is doing in partnership with young advisors, parents, carers, service users and staff. We want to celebrate the ways your feedback shapes our services and highlight the changes we make together. By listening, learning and acting on what matters to you, we aim to continually improve the support we provide.
Cal, one of our young advisors worked alongside three of CFHD’s staff to find out more about what they do, what they enjoy about their roles and what challenges they can sometimes face.
These interview will continue, with the aim of covering all of CFHD pathways.

Children and young people can feel nervous about seeking help, not knowing what to expect once they do.
Working with Malcolm and Astro, two of CFHD’s participation young advisors where supported to create short films, encouraging other young people to seek help for Mental health problems.

Four of CFHD’s participation young advisors have been involved in creating the ‘Letter for Tomorrow’.
The letter is a powerful and moving piece of work that is intended to give hope and encouragement to other young people that are facing difficult times and experiencing suicidal thoughts. Astro, Hollie and Malcolm have personal experience of suicide and wrote and recorded an audio version of the letter. Scarlett produced the artwork for the letter.
Early in 2025, Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD), co located services that were previously held at its Bull Meadow clinic to one site, Evergreen House on Victoria Park Road, officially closing the Bull Meadow clinic on 21 March.
The move meant that young people and their families who use CFHD’s services in Exeter, now use one location for their healthcare needs.
Working closely with input from our participation groups we have created brighter, modernised interiors, with the new setting offering a much improved look and feel, that reflects the high standards of care we’re proud to deliver.
Service users and staff alike now have access to refreshed, more spacious and better connected clinical environment now with 17 bookable clinical spaces. As part of our commitment to accessibility, we’ve also installed a new accessible bathroom which also has the ability to be used for assessment purposes, offering greater comfort and dignity.
The improvements at Evergreen House are designed with both care and comfort in mind. The expanded clinical space, not only enhances the range and quality of services that can be provided from Evergreen House, but also brings multiple services under one roof, making it easier for staff and service users to access the support they need in one welcoming location.
You said: Children and young people can feel nervous about attending their initial assessment at CFHD, and many told us that having a short, clear explainer video would help ease anxiety and make the process feel more familiar.
We did: We created an explainer video filmed at one of our sites, with a friendly voice-over guiding viewers through what to expect during their initial assessment. We then shared the draft with parents, carers and young people to make sure it was helpful, reassuring and easy to follow. After refining it based on their feedback, we added the video to our website and social media channels to support children and young people as they prepare for their first appointment.
