Window Of Tolerance
- The window of tolerance, provides a visual representation in all of us. When we are internally in our window of tolerance, our emotions are balanced and we are able to think clearly and act rationally.
- The ebb and flow of life’s stressors and pressures, when we are in our window of tolerance, we are able to respond to these events within a clear and rationale way.
- When we step out of our window of tolerance, we can find ourselves in a hypo-arousal or hyper-arousal state. Our responses to life’s stressors and pressures changes when we are sitting outside our window of tolerance. This ultimately affects how we emotionally feel and can affect our behaviours and communication with those around us.
- It is important, for us to check in with ourselves, are you in sitting in your window of tolerance and if you are sitting outside your window of tolerance what is causing this and how can you bring yourself back into your optimum window again.
- We all have our own window of tolerance, individual to each of us including children and young people.
