Launch of the New SPA Triage Process

The new SPA Triage process across Children and Family Health Devon has officially launched. This is a significant milestone in how we manage referrals and collaborate across services, ensuring that children and young people receive coordinated care.

What’s Changing?

Under the previous system, referrals were handled separately by different services, often resulting in fragmented communication and multiple outcomes. With the new integrated triage process, referrals will now be reviewed by a multi-professional team, including mental health, occupational therapy, speech and language, and neurodevelopmental specialists. This collaborative approach ensures that each child or young person receives a single, unified outcome, creating a more coordinated plan for the care and support they need.

Benefits for Families

This new process benefits children and families across Devon:

This milestone would not have been possible without the time, dedication, and collaboration of all our staff. We recognise that the development of this new process has required significant work, from the planning stages through to the launch.

As we move forward, the next focus will be on refining the assessment process to further enhance the integrated service model. This next phase will build on the foundations laid by the new triage system and bring us even closer to our goal of delivering a fully integrated service for children and young people in Devon.
