Mental Wellbeing Workshop for Schools

The Devon Mental Health Support Team (MHST), supported by South Hams District Council and West Devon Borough Council, has designed a video-based workshop to support children and young people’s mental wellbeing.

These workshops have been created to help pupils understand their emotions, recognise stress, and know when and how to seek help, all in a clear, age-appropriate, and supportive way. They encourage young people to look after themselves and each other, and are designed to be flexible and easy for schools to use.

The videos can be paused and resumed at any point, making them ideal for classroom use, tutor time, or assemblies.

This workshop is aimed at secondary school students and focuses on promoting mental wellbeing by exploring stress, emotions, and help-seeking in a relatable and accessible way.

The video is supported by our wonderful Mental Health Ambassadors and Young Advisers, who help to create a kind, empathetic, and supportive space throughout. Their involvement ensures the content feels authentic and relevant to young people.

We hope you enjoy using this workshop with your students.

Our primary school workshop has been designed to help younger children understand mental health and wellbeing in a clear and caring way.

The video teaches children that all feelings are okay, introduces simple ways to look after their emotions, and encourages them to talk to a trusted adult when they need help. The workshop is supported by our Mental Health Ambassadors, who help to create a positive, reassuring, and supportive message for all young people.

We hope this workshop supports valuable conversations in your school.
