LEAP Workshops: Supporting families across Devon and Torbay
The Parent Carer Forum Devon and SEND Family Voice Torbay, in collaboration with Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD), are pleased to be funding and delivering LEAP Workshops, a new programme of free workshops for parents and carers of children and young people with SEND across Devon and Torbay.
The programme has been designed to help families and professionals build their understanding of SEND, discover practical strategies and access useful resources to support children and young people.
The project has already made a positive impact, reaching over 340 people across 21 sessions.
Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive. 100% of participants reported feeling more knowledgeable after attending, and every participant said they had learned a strategy they intended to use to support their child. All respondents also agreed that the workshops provide a vital and much-needed community resource, with 100% expressing a desire to attend future sessions.
As part of the project, a new LEAP Workshops logo was also created, alongside an Eventbrite booking system to make it easy for families and professionals to find and book upcoming sessions.
Holly Billington, Deputy Director (interim) for Children and Family Health Devon said, “We’re delighted to see LEAP Workshops making such a difference and look forward to continuing to provide accessible, practical and informative workshops for families across Devon and Torbay”.
