Children and Family Health Devon nurse awarded prestigious Queen’s Nurse title
Emily Selley, Clinical Team Manager for the Community Children’s Nursing (CCN) Pathway, has been awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse in this year’s round of applications. Emily becomes the fifth Queen’s Nurse in the Children’s Community Nursing Pathway with Children and Family health Devon (CFHD), a testament to the team’s exceptional standards of care.
Emily, who has worked in the NHS for 27 years, ten of those within CFHD’s Community Nursing Team said, “I am so thrilled to have been awarded the Queen’s Nurse title. It is an honour to be recognised for my commitment to patient care and nursing practice. I was particularly touched by two supportive statements from families I have worked with during my time in CFHD and feel privileged to have provided such meaningful care.”
Across CFHD, there are now 12 Queen’s Nurses, a remarkable achievement that reflects the depth of expertise, compassion and dedication within their nursing teams. This growing network of highly regarded professionals strengthens CFHD’s ability to share best practice, innovate in patient care and inspire the next generation of community nurses.
Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust’s Chief Nurse, Nicola McMinn said, “I want to congratulate Emily on achieving the title of Queen’s Nurse and to recognise the incredible dedication shown by all our nurses within the Children and Family and Health Devon. Emily’s achievement is a shining example of the skill, compassion, and professionalism that runs through our children’s services. Every day, our nurses go above and beyond to make a real difference for children, young people and their families and I am immensely proud to work alongside such an exceptional team.”
The Queen’s Nurse title is awarded to nurses, health visitors, and midwives who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to patient care and nursing practice in the community. Applicants must have at least five years’ experience in community, primary, or social care.
Becoming a Queen’s Nurse connects recipients with a supportive national network, provides access to a free developmental programme and bursaries, offers opportunities for leadership and learning, and formally recognises their dedication to improving patient care.
The achievement not only highlights Emily’s personal dedication but also reinforces CFHD’s reputation for excellence in community healthcare.
