Christmas Hampers spread cheer for care leavers in Devon and Torbay

With Christmas around the corner, we want all of our care experienced young adults aged 22-25 to have something nice to look forward to during the festive season. Everyone up to 22 will get a gift from their personal advisor as part of our Local Offer, but we wanted to ensure that older care leavers will also get something to look forward to this Christmas.

So, led by the Devon and Torbay Children in Care Nursing team, colleagues from across Devon County Council and Torbay Council, joined forces to make sure that all of our care experienced young adults will receive a hamper of gifts this Christmas.

Together, and with the generosity of the general public (who donated over £5000 as well as various gifts!), we packed over 250 Christmas hampers for our care experienced young people, with gifts including blankets, towels, toiletries and chocolate. The hampers will be distributed to young people over the next few weeks.

Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this all possible! And special thanks to Exeter Foodbank, Football Fun Factory, Isca Academy, Dunelm, the residents of Buckerell and Feniton, Project Linus, and the 100 hats in 50 days project organised by Emma Flint. If you’d like to help with the Christmas Hamper Project, donations for next year can be made through the existing Just Giving page.
