Children and Family Health Devon celebrates award win and recognition in mental health services for children and young people

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) is thrilled to announce a recent triumph in the mental health sector.

Earlier this year CFHD was shortlisted for two Mental Health Awards. Running since 2019, these national awards are a celebration of successful interventions and inspirational stories.  During the awards ceremony held in Reading last Thursday, CFHD’s Mental Health Support Team in Schools (MHST) won the Innovative Mental Health Intervention.

The Mental Health Support Team in Schools (MHST) is an NHS service commissioned to work with a number of schools across Devon and Torbay and in the community . They offer early intervention to help children and young people with their mental health and emotional wellbeing as well as individual and group Low-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Li-CBT) evidence based interventions.

As well as this win, CHFD’s participation young advisors achieved a highly regarded certification in the Inspirational story category for their work on the Letter for Tomorrow. The letter is a powerful and moving piece of work that is intended to give hope and encouragement to other young people that are facing difficult times and experiencing suicidal thoughts.

This national recognition highlights the high standard of care and innovative support that CFHD brings to its communities. Winning the Innovative Mental Health Intervention is a significant achievement, highlighting the impactful work the service carries out every day. Additionally, the certification in the Inspirational story category confirms CFHD’s commitment to championing positive outcomes for children and young people across Devon and Torbay.

Holly Billington, Service lead for MHST said, “I am incredibly proud of our team and the work we do. Every member brings their heart and expertise to the table, striving to make a real difference. This award, along with being shortlisted for two awards this year, reflects the powerful impact our service has on young people, and we are committed to continuing this work with the same passion and dedication.”
