Autism Assessment Service

Autism is a lifelong developmental condition which affects how people communicate and interact with the world. Autism is characterised by differences in:

– Social communication (how we communicate with other people)

– Social interaction (how we relate to other people)

– Repetitive or restrictive behaviours

– Sensory processing (how we process light, sound, touch, taste, pain)

– Emotional regulation

The Autism Assessment Team provides assessments to children and young people between 5-18 who are registered with a GP in Devon. The Team consists of different health professionals, including Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Mental Health Practitioners and Specialist Nurses.
